  There are several tools available for identifying systems present on a network before conducting vulnerability tests .  One such tool is the Nessus Vulnerability Scanner. Nessus is a widely used vulnerability scanner that can identify IT assets, web applications, and cloud infrastructure vulnerabilities . It is designed to assess the modern attack surface and can be used to extend beyond traditional IT assets. Nessus is trusted by thousands of organizations worldwide and is considered the gold standard for vulnerability assessment. I like this tool because it helps network administrators access organizational threats .

  The  Application layer  is the seventh and highest layer of the OSI and TCP/IP models. It specifies the shared communication protocols and interface methods hosts use in a communications network. The protocols in the Application layer are responsible for providing services to the user, such as file transfer, email, and web browsing.

  The CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) certification is a globally recognized certification that validates the skills required to perform cybersecurity analysis and response. The certificate is valid for three years from the exam date, after which it can be renewed through the   continuing education (CE) program.   ISO/ANSI accredits the CySA+ certification and meets the U.S. Department of Defense requirements. The certificate is designed to equip cybersecurity professionals with the necessary skills to identify and respond to security threats and vulnerabilities in real-world scenarios. Professionals must stay updated with the latest technologies and trends as the cybersecurity industry evolves . The CySA+ certification is a great way to demonstrate your knowledge and expertise in the field of cybersecurity and stay ahead of the curve.

  Managing risk and protecting the network is very important for an organization but it is also important to know that we will always carry some risk no matter how good our cyber defenses are, and it is important to have a security budget in place as most companies only increase or make a security budget after a major attack. Since there is always plenty of risk to manage, it is good to know where that risk is. There are several steps used to manage risk in a network, important ones are. 1.     Mapping out a network. To manage your risk, you’ll need to know where it lies. So first,  identify the asse ts  in your network that could be targeted by cybercriminals.   2.     Identify Network Risk. Once you’ve identified the weak points in your network, you’ll need to identify the risks that could affect your organization. You’ll want to examine external risks like attacks and breaches, as well as internal risks like poorly configured ...

Week 12

  I enjoyed reading and writing the blogs in this course, I found it enjoyable as it enabled me to do more research on the topics of each week, and reading the posts of my peers too was encouraging and knowledgeable. I believe it was helpful in my current role as it enhanced my typing skills and enabled me to think outside the box about what info I can research and share ideas with the public.             I think I can see myself blogging in the future when it is not required for an assignment because blogging helps me to read, and I enjoy reading. It helps me study and enables me to share ideas with others around the world. I don’t know if blogging can be desirable to a company, but I hope it does as I believe every piece of knowledge is useful.

  Cell phones use radio frequencies to send and receive information that is translated into sound. At any given time while in use, the cell phone sends information on at least two different frequencies, one for sending information and one for receiving it. Signals carrying voice, text, and digital data are transmitted via radio waves from one device to another. The typical cell phone includes a dual-strength transmitter, capable of transmitting either 0.6-watt or 3-watt signals.       A cellphone handset contains a radio transmitter, for sending radio signals onward from the phone, and a radio receiver, for receiving incoming signals from other phones.  The radio transmitter and receiver are not very high-powered, which means cell phones cannot send signals very fa r.  The internet protocol version 6 (IPV6) is a suite of standard protocols for the network layer of the Internet, IPV6 is designed to solve many of the problems of the current Internet protocol suite (IPV4) about address depletion, security, and auto-configuration. IPV6 expands the capability of the internet to enable new kinds of applications including peer-to-peer and mobile applications. IPV6 addresses are 128 bits long, the reason for this is to subdivide the available addresses into a hierarchy of routing domains that reflect the internet's topology. The total number of IPV6 addresses in the world is 340 undecillions, an example of an IPV6 address is  2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e: 0370:7334 .  It is represented as eight groups of four hexadecimal digits, each group representing 16 bits. The groups are separated by colons, the first 64 bits of the address are for routing and the last 64 bits are for representing the interface or node.
